Jim Crow Laws
The Jim Crow Laws enforced racial segregation in the South. They were stated as “separate but equal”. These laws enforced the black and white to be separate. They both would have the same type of things but the quality was very different. In this picture it shows that the two water fountains were right next to each other but they were labeled colored or white. It shows that there was a separation but they really weren't equal. Even though they both have a water fountain the white water fountain looks much better. After the laws were passed many things changed; especially with schools. They made two schools one for the black people and one for the white. When the taxes came along for the schools the white people were paying the taxes for the white schools and the black people were paying taxes towards the black schools. In the end the white schools turned out to be a lot better just because the different people were paying for it.
